Data-Tele Contractors, Inc. is seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join our growing team. This position is based primarily in our Carlstadt, NJ headquarters (with occasional work from our Midtown Manhattan office as needed) and offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design and construction of enterprise-class Information Technology, Audio Visual, and Security systems.
As a Junior Estimator, you will work closely with experienced estimators, project managers, engineers, and manufacturer partners to develop competitive proposals for some of the region's most prestigious corporate, financial, healthcare, education, and technology clients. This entry-level position provides a clear path for advancement into senior estimating, project management, engineering, and business development roles.

What You'll Do
Review and analyze RFPs, bid packages, construction documents, specifications, and client requirements to develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope and intent.Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for structured cabling, network infrastructure, audio visual, security, and low-voltage systems.
Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings, floor plans, specifications, and technology design documents.
Create and maintain proposals, change orders, budgetary estimates, invoices, bid summaries, and project tracking spreadsheets.
Research products, manufacturers, and emerging technologies to identify cost- effective and technically sound solutions.
Solicit, review, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
Collaborate with senior estimators to develop bid strategies, value engineering options, and proposal narratives.
Utilize estimating software, CRM systems, Excel, and internal tools to prepare, track, and maintain estimates throughout the bidding process.
Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to validate scope, labor assumptions, and project execution requirements.
Participate in internal estimate review meetings and contribute to bid package development.
Manage multiple estimate revisions and incorporate client feedback, design changes, and addenda accurately and efficiently.
Attend site surveys, pre-bid meetings, and project walkthroughs throughout the NY/NJ metropolitan area with senior team members.
Maintain organized project records, bid documentation, and historical cost
databases.Support post-bid activities, including scope reviews, contract handoffs, and
project turnover meetings.Assist with administrative, reporting, and organizational functions that support the estimating and business development teams.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree, associate degree, trade school education, or equivalent
experience in Construction Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field preferred.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer
applications.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while
maintaining exceptional attention to detail.Willingness to learn technical IT, AV, and Security systems and develop industry expertise.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the NY/NJ area for site visits when required.

Hours & Benefits
Hours: Monday–Friday; 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Starting Salary: $50,000-70,00 annually (commensurate with experience)Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with 1–3 years of professional experience in engineering, information technology, audiovisual, security, construction, or a related field. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills—a team-player mindset with the ability to work independently.The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail, along with high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Added bonus for familiarity in Bluebeam, D-Tools, Adobe Acrobat.
